The college’s Level 2 Plasterer Apprenticeship typically takes 24 months to reach the gateway stage. The Level 2 Roofer Apprenticeship also takes approximately 24 months, excluding the end-point assessment period.
Both courses combine practical training with workplace experience. Apprentices learn about health and safety, materials, communication, teamwork and site etiquette alongside the practical elements of their chosen trade.
We also welcomed Graham, a Newcastle College roofing standards assessor, to site to review the progress of our roofing apprentices. Visits such as this provide valuable feedback and help ensure that practical development on site remains aligned with the standards expected by the college and the wider industry.
In February 2026, our team also attended an invitation event at Newcastle College. Events like this strengthen the relationship between training providers and employers. They give businesses the opportunity to share ideas, learn more about apprenticeship provision and support the wider development of construction careers in the region.
What does a roofing apprenticeship involve?
A roofing apprenticeship offers a practical introduction to one of the most important building trades.
Under the guidance of an experienced team, an apprentice may learn about:
